Environmental Impact Assessments for Solid Waste Management Facilities in Temnine El Faouqa and Majdel Anjar, Lebanon
In 2018, SES was commissioned by ANERA to prepare two Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies for the development of municipal solid waste treatment facilities using Mechanical-Biological Treatment (MBT) technology in Temnine El Faouqa (Baalbek District) and Majdel Anjar (Zahle District).
As part of this assignment, SES was responsible for:
· Preparing detailed scoping reports in accordance with national EIA decree.
· Organizing and conducting public consultation meetings to ensure stakeholder engagement and compliance with participatory planning principles.
· Developing comprehensive EIA reports for both sites, which included assessments of the policy, legislative, and institutional framework; baseline environmental conditions; detailed project descriptions; impact identification and analysis; and evaluation of project alternatives.
All work was carried out in alignment with Lebanese environmental regulations and international standards to ensure environmental sustainability, public transparency, and regulatory compliance.
